Comfortable with Computers

image of man sat in front of a laptop computerSt Matthew’s Church seeks to break down the walls of social isolation and actively engage with people, empowering them to make the most of the opportunities to connect with and integrate better into their community.

As part of this aim, we have introduced free Comfortable with Computers sessions, led by volunteers, to help people to gain confidence in using their laptops or tablets. These sessions are currently offered once a month on the second Saturday, 10am - 12noon, but we are prepared to increase the frequency if necessary.

The aims of these sessions are to:

  • Give one-to-one support to adults who want to understand their laptops/tablets better (children MUST be accompanied by an adult)
  • Help with general problems, such as how to set up email, how to take/edit photographs, how to download apps, basic use of MS Office, and so on

We will not:

  • Give recommendations or advice on which programmes to use/buy
  • Give recommendations or advice on any aspect of online benefit claims
  • Ask for personal data information (for example, passwords, bank account details)
