Y Bible

image of BibleEverything in the Scriptures is God-breathed. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.  The Scriptures train God’s people to do all kinds of good work.

 2 Timothy 3:16

Saint Paul wrote this to encourage a young church leader, but Christians today still find it helps them to understand why the Bible is so important and how it helps them to grow in their faith and understanding of God’s love for all people.  It has been called a ‘Guidebook for life.’

Most of us wouldn’t try fixing something as complicated as a car without referring to the manual, so why would we try and navigate living out our faith without referring to our Maker’s manual?

Here at St Matthew's, we are encouraging one another to read the Bible more often, as part of the Diocese of Chester's Y Bible initiative. We will be offering a range of ideas, events and resources to help people find different ways of reading and taking in God's Word, some of which are listed below; printed copies will be available in Church. Do check back regularly to find out more.

Many of our congregation have found Bible Gateway a good resource for reference and study.

Essential 100 (E100)
